The national
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that approximately
4 million men and women are infected by Chlamydia trachomatis
and Neisseria gonorrhoeae every year, and up to 40 percent
of untreated women develop Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) as
a complication.
Considering
that up to 75% of women and 50% of men who have chlamydia and/or
gonorrhea have no symptoms, routine screening and early, effective
treatment are the keys to reducing the high prevalence of CT/GC
and the incidence of PID.
BD has developed
a new program to help create awareness amongt patients, to help
physicians follow current recommendations, and to make the latest
DNA amplification technology available.
