Because DNA amplification technology has the potential
for significantly greater sensitivity, the definition
of a true positive result now shows us that the
sensitivity of most tests is significantly lower
than originally believed.13,18
The BD BeAware test was developed using BD's
proprietary DNA amplification technology called Strand
Displacement Amplification (SDA). The
BD BeAware test is performed on the
BD ProbeTec ET system.
