Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance at one times salary is effective on the first day of employment. The company pays the full cost of this insurance. Additional AD&D may be purchased.
Short Term Disability Insurance
BD provides a Short Term Disability Insurance Plan to assist associates with lost wages due to a non-occupational illness or injury for a maximum of 6 months.
Long Term Disability (LTD)
Associates become eligible for Long Term Disability Program on the first day of employment. LTD is an associate contributory program and provides 60% income for eligible disabilities after the 6-month waiting period.
The dental benefit plan has two options for associates and their families. Both plans become effective on the first day of employment. Contributions are made on a pre-tax basis.
Associates are provided with competitive healthcare benefits. Benefits provided include: hospital, convalescent hospital, injectable drugs, prescription drugs ($2 deductible), chiropractor, naturopath, osteopath, podiatrist, psychologist, physiotherapist, massage therapy, eye exams, discount on eyewear and vision care services and a flexible spending account.
Basic Group Life Insurance equal to an associate's base salary is effective on the first day of employment. The Company pays the full cost of this insurance. Supplemental spouse and dependent child life insurance may be purchased as well.
GSIP is a great opportunity to be a shareholder of the company. Associates are offered the opportunity to purchase BD stock through convenient payroll deductions. The company will provide a "dollar for dollar" match.
To assist associates with retirement planning, the Company provides a pension plan, the full cost of which is paid by BD. Service credits commence on the associate's date of hire with 100% vesting after two years of employment.

Information is provided in many formats: guidebooks, pamphlets, videos, tip sheets. All contact with the service is confidential and is made by the associate.

The BD Academic Scholarship Program makes available twelve scholarships, each providing awards of $3,000 per year for a total of $12,000 over a four-year period.
The Academic Scholarship Program is based on scholastic and extracurricular activities and not on financial needs. It is available to the dependent children of all eligible BD associates worldwide, and reflects the continuing desire of BD to support higher education.

Every other Friday afternoon off for all employees providing they work an extra hour per day during the summer hour program.
We support associate's effort to further their education and provide assistance with these endeavours. Our program reimburses eligible associates who successfully complete their course, for the full cost of tuition and registration fees for undergraduate and college courses. Courses must be job related and taken at an accredited college or university.
