Health and Dental Benefits Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance at one times salary is effective on the first day of employment. The company pays the full cost of this insurance. Additional AD&D may be purchased. Short Term Disability InsuranceBD provides a Short Term Disability Insurance Plan to assist associates with lost wages due to a non-occupational illness or injury for a maximum of 6 months. Long Term Disability (LTD) Associates become eligible for Long Term Disability Program on the first day of employment. LTD is an associate contributory program and provides 60% income for eligible disabilities after the 6-month waiting period. The dental benefit plan has two options for associates and their families. Both plans become effective on the first day of employment. Contributions are made on a pre-tax basis. Associates are provided with competitive healthcare benefits. Benefits provided include: hospital, convalescent hospital, injectable drugs, prescription drugs, chiropractor, naturopath, osteopath, podiatrist, psychologist, physiotherapist, massage therapy, eye exams, discount on eyewear and vision care services. Basic Group Life Insurance equal to an associate's base salary is effective on the first day of employment. The Company pays the full cost of this insurance. Supplemental spouse and dependent child life insurance may be purchased as well. Retirement Savings Global Share Investment Program (GSIP) GSIP is a great opportunity to be a shareholder of the company. Associates are offered the opportunity to purchase BD stock through convenient payroll deductions. The company will provide a "dollar for dollar" match. To assist associates with retirement planning, the Company provides a pension plan, the full cost of which is paid by BD. Service credits commence on the associate's date of hire with 100% vesting after two years of employment. The Savings Incentive Plan provides an excellent opportunity to accumulate RRSP savings with a company match of 50%. The plan consists of a registered retirement savings plan (RRSP) and a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), and saving is made easy through payroll deductions. Other Benefits Associate Candidate Referral Program BD offers an Associate Candidate Referral Program which provides a monetary reward to any associate who refers a candidate who is hired and completes 6 months successful employment. Associates can enjoy the comfort and convenience of 'Business Casual' attire everyday. Employee Assistance Program (EAP) We understand that associates and their families may face challenges and pressures in their lives. To help, we offer associates and family members EAP. This is a confidential, 24-hour access to outside, experienced, professional counsellors who will provide information, immediate treatment, or referral to other sources. All contact with the service is confidential. We recognize the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and providing a convenient way for our associates to do this. Our Fitness Centre includes a fully equipped exercise facility and a professional trainer that can offer effective strategies for improving physical fitness and healthy lifestyle habits. BD recognizes the value of work/life balance by providing flexible hours. Associates are entitled to (9) nine statutory holidays plus (3) three additional floater days. LifeWorks© is a family resource program provided to all associates and their immediate dependents. LifeWorks© offers a wide variety of practical advice, useful materials and referrals to local and national resources. Information is provided in many formats: guidebooks, pamphlets, videos, tip sheets. All contact with the service is confidential and is made by the associate. We are committed to the health and well-being of our associates. In addition to the coverage provided under your benefit plan, we have an on-site Massage Therapist who provides complimentary massages. Returning to the workplace after a maternity/ parental leave can be a stressful time as the returning parent tries to juggle the responsibilities of home and work. Our "Mommy Mentor" program helps to ease the transition back to work by partnering you with a mom who has recently returned from a maternity/ parental leave. The BD Academic Scholarship Program makes available twelve scholarships, each providing awards of $3,000 per year for a total of $12,000 over a four-year period. The Academic Scholarship Program is based on scholastic and extracurricular activities and not on financial needs. It is available to the dependent children of all eligible BD associates worldwide, and reflects the continuing desire of BD to support higher education. Consistent with the goal of increasing associate ownership and wealth, most associates are eligible for BD stock awards. Selection criteria is based on performance and contribution to key strategic initiatives. Stock awards are re-earned each year by meeting or exceeding challenging performance objectives and expectations. Every other Friday afternoon off for all employees providing they work an extra hour per day during the summer hour program. We support associate's effort to further their education and provide assistance with these endeavours. Our program reimburses eligible associates who successfully complete their course, for the full cost of tuition and registration fees for undergraduate and college courses. Courses must be job related and taken at an accredited college or university. Don't worry about having to buy additional travel insurance when going abroad! Travel Assistance uses the services of Worldwide Assistance Services Inc. to give you access to 24 hour-a-day emergency medical assistance while outside of Canada. All associates are eligible for 3 weeks per year effective the first day of employment. |
