Keeping in line with BD’s commitment to bringing new technologies and innovation to improve human healthcare, the Company made a strategic acquisition in fiscal year 2007. In December of 2006, BD acquired TriPath Imaging, Inc. BD’s TriPath platform develops, manufactures, markets and sells innovative solutions to improve the clinical management of cancer. This strategic acquisition aligns innovative new technologies with BD’s existing business strategies and is a natural complement to ongoing internal research programs in our BD Diagnostics and BD Biosciences segments. No other major changes took place in operations in fiscal year 2007.
Three segments represent BD in worldwide markets: BD Medical, BD Diagnostics and BD Biosciences. BD Medical BD Diagnostics BD Biosciences Unless otherwise noted, this report covers financial data for fiscal year 2007 (October 1, 2006 to September 30, 2007) and encompasses the entire Company in all regions of the world. However, this report does not cover joint ventures or strategic alliances. Data presented in this report are from BD operations worldwide unless otherwise noted. Environmental data are from manufacturing, research and development, distribution, and major administrative facilities covering the calendar year 2006. Safety and health data covers fiscal year 2006.
