Franklin Lakes, NJ (January 21, 1997) -- Becton Dickinson Supply Chain Services (BDSCS) has recently launched the ONES initiative to integrate all supply chain systems in a way that makes it simpler and less costly for customers to do business with Becton Dickinson.

A keystone of the program is the establishment of one point of contact for customers in North America. Through one toll free number, 1-888-BDSCS-NA, customers can receive any supply chain service for any Becton Dickinson product. This includes: product inquiries, distributor questions, contract administration, order placement, fulfillment status inquiries, product returns, payment, claims resolution, rebate/credit submission, or any activity supporting the shipping and delivery of an order. In addition, using the new order fulfillment system, customer orders are received in one delivery, billed with one invoice, and remitted with one payment, significantly reducing customers' administrative costs.

The ONES initiative also includes a state-of the-art electronic commerce system that enables customers to conduct business electronically, without the use of paper, faxes or telephones.

"ONES is only the first in a number of initiatives and new service products that will leverage Becton Dickinson's capabilities to produce efficiency and value for ourselves, our distributors, and our end-user customers," commented Nick LaHowchic, President, BDSCS. "Through value-added services such as the ONES initiative, Becton Dickinson is effectively establishing itself as an industry leader in service."

Prior to the introduction of the ONES initiative, customers needing products from several product divisions had to deal with each division separately, requiring multiple accounts and contacts, and different terms and conditions of sale.

Groundwork for the ONES initiative began earlier in the year with the publication of a completed price catalog with standard terms and conditions of sale for all products from Becton Dickinson Division, BD Anesthesia Systems, BD Labware, BD Infusion Therapy (previously BD Vascular Access), and BD VACUTAINER Systems.

BDSCS manages supply chain services for all order fulfillment activities, all product fulfillment activities, and distribution services to the distributors and wholesalers of Becton Dickinson products.
