Becton Dickinson Acquires Luther Medical Products

Sandy, Utah (January 26, 1999) -- Becton Dickinson and Company (BDX) has acquired Luther Medical Products, Inc. (LMP). The deal was approved by LMP shareholders at a meeting on Monday, January 25,1999. Luther employs 55 people in their Tustin, California corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility. The acquisition greatly enhances BD's extended dwell catheter product portfolio adding over 70 products including polyurethane and silicone catheters, unique catheter insertion devices and specialty port access catheters. The Luther acquisition also brings to BD an extensive intellectual property and patent portfolio. The combined sales of Becton Dickinson and Luther give BD the number two market position in sales of extended dwell catheters.
