B-D.id Business Director Steve Savitz Presents 1999 Becton Dickinson Award for Significant Contributions to Medical Systems Engineering Franklin Lakes, NJ (March 15, 1999) -- The 1999 Becton Dickinson Award for Significant Contributions to Medical Systems Engineering was presented at the LabAutomation99 Conference and Exhibition in February in San Diego. Steve Savitz, Business Director of B-D.id, presented this prestigious award to three individuals who have worked closely together to develop some of the early concepts in laboratory automation as an integrated process.
The award recipients were:

Stephen Middleton, Director of Project Management, MDS Autolab Diagnostic Sector
Carrie Ebenhardt, Director Product Management, MDS Autolab, MDS Diagnostic Sector
Paul Mountain was honored for his vision and leadership, and for seminal publications that established important foundations in the field of clinical laboratory automation. Stephen Middleton and Paul Mountain shared the podium on numerous occasions to present models of laboratory organization, novel hardware, and advanced software architectures that would bring unprecedented levels of efficiency to large commercial laboratories. Similarly, Carrie Ebenhardt has focused her talent on complex laboratory problems and has shared her visionary insight and unique problem solving skills with numerous audiences through presentations and publications. All three helped steer MDS Inc. toward a unique model of automation partnership assuring both vendor and customer success.
