BD Names Stephen Mock Vice President, Investor and Public Relations

Franklin Lakes, NJ (September 26, 2000) -- BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) (NYSE: BDX) today announced that Stephen J. Mock has been named vice president, investor and public relations, a new position at BD. In this capacity, Mock will be responsible for development and execution of the Company’s external and internal global communications strategies. “Steve’s appointment reflects our commitment to create an integrated and highly effective communications team,” said John R. Considine, executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Mock, 44, comes to BD from Warner-Lambert Company, where he most recently served as vice president, public relations, responsible for worldwide external communications strategy and implementation. He joined Warner-Lambert in 1983 and held positions of increasing responsibility in finance and public affairs, including corporate finance, investor relations and media relations.

He received his B.A. and B.S. from Lehigh University and his M.B.A. from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Mock resides in Bridgewater, New Jersey with his wife and three children.

BD is a medical technology company that manufactures and sells a broad range of supplies, devices and systems for use by health care professionals, medical research institutions, industry and the general public. For the fiscal year ended September 30, 1999, BD reported total revenues of $3.4 billion.
