Paranicas has been named vice president, Investor Relations and Public Affairs. Paranicas replaces Stephen J. Mock, who has left BD to pursue personal interests, including spending more time with his family.

Considine, executive vice president and chief financial officer. “Dean is a respected company veteran who knows BD and the markets we serve and can effectively interface with the investment community and maintain favorable corporate relationships across all BD constituencies.”
Paranicas, 49, joined BD in 1981. He was most recently director, Corporate Development and Strategic Investments. From August through November 2000 he served as director, Investor Relations. Prior to this, Mr. Paranicas was associate general counsel and assistant secretary, where his primary emphasis was in mergers and acquisitions, real estate and corporate and commercial law.
Paranicas holds a BA from Rutgers College-Rutgers University and a JD degree from Rutgers-Newark School of Law. He is a member of the Rutgers University Board of Governors.
BD is a medical technology company that manufactures and sells a broad range of supplies, devices and systems for use by health care professionals, medical research institutions, industry and the general public. For the fiscal year ended September 30, 2000, BD reported total revenues of $3.6 billion.
