BD Donates $500,000 to Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief Efforts

Franklin Lakes, NJ (September 01, 2005) --

BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) (NYSE: BDX), a global medical technology company, today announced that it is donating $500,000 in support of relief efforts to assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and the Gulf States. The donation will be split equally between the American Red Cross and United Way Hurricane Response Fund.

“Our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to the victims of this terrible disaster,” stated Edward J. Ludwig, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. “We will continue working with our charitable relief partners to assess the need for our additional support in terms of product donations.”
