The new U.S. $16.6 million facility will be approximately 80,000-square-feet upon completion, which is expected in early 2011, and is expected to employ approximately 140 individuals at full capacity. “Our new facility in San Luis Potosi will help enable BD to meet increasing global demand for its products,” said William A. Kozy, BD Executive Vice President. “We are grateful for the support we have received from the Mexican authorities, especially the San Luis Potosi government, for this investment. BD has a long history in Mexico, and today we are pleased to be celebrating the next chapter.” The products manufactured at the new plant are cut stainless steel tubes which will be sent to other BD plants for finishing operations, including grinding, cleaning and needle assembly. The plant and its products manufactured there will comply with BD’s high standards for quality, safety, reliability and business continuity. Additionally, the building design incorporates features intended to reduce energy and water consumption, reflecting BD's commitment to environmental stewardship.
