(May 15, 2011) --
BD has been named one of the "2011 World's Most Ethical Companies" by Ethisphere magazine for the fifth consecutive year. We are one of only two medical device companies included among this year’s 110 World’s Most Ethical Companies. Of these companies, 36 are new to the list in 2011 and 26 companies dropped off from the 2010 list.
A methodology committee of attorneys, professors, government officials and organization leaders assisted the Ethisphere Council in creating the scoring methodology for the World’s Most Ethical Companies awards. Ethisphere conducts data analysis based on companies’ responses to an in-depth survey and other documents and information researched to confirm survey responses. Every company receives an Ethics Quotient (EQ) score based on the results of the survey and is measured against seven distinct categories: Corporate Citizenship and Responsibility; Corporate Governance; Innovation that Contributes to the Public Well Being; Industry leadership; Executive Leadership and Tone from the Top; Legal, Regulatory and Reputation Track Record; and Internal Systems and Ethics/Compliance Program.
BD earned this recognition due to our outstanding commitment to ethical leadership, compliance practices and corporate social responsibility efforts. This list affirms our commitment to BD’s Core Values, especially “We do what is right.”
