BD Recognised in Workplace Gender Equality

The Australian Government’s Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) has announced the inaugural list of Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE) citation holders with BD in Australia being one of only 76 organisations receiving the prestigious citation.

This award recognises organisations that have demonstrated an active commitment to gender equality in their workplace. Leading companies like BD realise diverse and inclusive workplaces are a baseline feature of well-managed organisations.

WGEA Director Helen Conway said: “Holders of the 2014 WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation should be celebrated and championed as leading practice role models and innovative thinkers on issues of workplace gender equality and employees should view this citation as a guiding light when making employment decisions. They should see it as a symbol of an organisation that is an industry leader and a facilitator of change.”

“This year’s citation holders have each demonstrated their commitment to maximising the full potential of their entire talent pool,” Ms Conway said.

BD’s application for the 2014 EOCGE citation, included detail on the Company’s commitment to BD’s global Women’s Initiative Network (WIN), an employee-led initiative that is driving activities in support of BD’s goal to build greater gender diversity at all levels of the organisation.

“We are working to create a best-in-class work environment in which women are engaged, encouraged and enabled to use their talents and to thrive in leadership across the Company," said Hilary Crilly, Managing Director for BD in Australia and New Zealand.

“WIN is open to all BD associates, and men are equally as important in this initiative. Increased associate engagement, regardless of gender or ethnicity, is helping to influence positive changes throughout the Company,” said Ms. Crilly.  “BD is honoured to be a recipient of the 2014 Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation.”
