Starting in May, 2009, BD will begin a conversion from our current BD Difco™ Antisera to mercury-free antisera. During the transition period, while BD carries a mixed stock of traditional Antisera and mercury-free Antisera vials, a "Mercury-Free" orange sticker will be affixed to all mercury-free boxes, while traditional products will continue to bear a Mercury Warning statement. The full conversion of all BD Difco™ Antisera products to mercury-free products may extend into 2010.
Please note that existing BD Difco™ Antisera users do not need to validate the mercury-free vials. Other than substituting a new preservative that is Mercury-free, the specifications and performance of the products will not change. All active ingredients, test procedures and product catalog numbers remain the same.
