Like our other BD Directigen EZ tests, the BD Directigen EZ Flu A+B kit utilizes a unique lateral flow technology that provides maximum performance and easy readability in two simple steps. Additionally, analytical studies have demonstrated that this new kit can detect avian influenza (H5N1) isolates and the A/California/07/2004 strain.
The BD Directigen EZ Flu A+B kit improves laboratory efficiency by being able to detect and differentiate Flu A and Flu B antigens in a single device. This test utilizes a proprietary sample processing reagent specially developed to breakdown mucoid specimens and optimize antigen release. This is critical for lateral flow flu kits that detect well-protected nuclear proteins. Increased antigen release not only improves sensitivity and increases test clarity, but also reduces the need to discard heavily mucoid specimens. The sample processing reagent, along with optimized concentrations of antibodies and detector, eliminates background and provides clear test lines that are easier to read even with weakly positive samples, enabling rapid result determination.
The BD Directigen EZ Flu A+B kit also enhances laboratory financial value. Separate test wells for Flu A and Flu B allow for separate, multi-step test reimbursement. It is compatible with a wide variety of transport media, saving time and resources required for validation. It is also acceptable for use with multiple specimen types, minimizing specimen incompatibility and rejection. Respiratory specimens suitable for testing include nasopharyngeal (NP) washes, NP aspirates and throat swabs.
The BD Directigen EZ Flu A+B kit continues the tradition of high performance rapid testing that you have come to expect from the BD Directigen EZ family of products. BD Diagnostics now offers complete lateral flow-based respiratory solutions with consistent, high quality and accurate tests for RSV, Flu A+B and Strep A.
The kit is packaged with 30 test devices and allows convenient room temperature storage.
