BD Diagnostics, Sparks, MD, announces the immediate availability of color-coded tube labels for some of our highest volume liquid tube media products. By color-coding labels of similar looking media formulations, microbiologists will more easily be able to identify these formulations. Setting up the wrong formulation of medium on a patient culture can affect treatment of the patient and translate into wasted time and reagents in the laboratory due to culture rework. Additionally, having a label on the surface of the tube provides an ideal writing surface to record important patient information without fear of smearing or completely removing accession numbers, as is the case with unlabeled tubes. The following liquid media formulations will now be sold with color-coded labels: Trypticase™ Soy Broth – Green label, GN Broth – Yellow label, Enriched Thioglycollate Broth – Blue label and lastly, Lim Broth – Orange label.
