BD has over 160 years of combined experience with Difco and BBL products in the development, manufacturing and supply of microbiology products to industry and hospitals. With the recent and ongoing threats associated with bioterrorism there is the need to be able to sample, test and identify potential bioterrorism agents as well as to be able to increase production of antibiotics and vaccines to treat and prevent possible disease.

In order to obtain samples, BD has a full range of swab devices as well as BBL™ RODAC™ plates for air and surface testing. In order to test and isolate organisms, BD has a full range of Prepared Media products as well as Identification systems and reagents to fully identify potential organisms.

BD offers a full range of products required for the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals such as Peptones and Hydrolysates and also provides Sterile Environmental Testing plates for testing the manufacturing environment. For quality testing of the final product, BD also has a range of Prepared Sterility Testing Media as well as the complete range of Prepared Media, Reagents and Identification Systems.
