In 1999, in response to needs voiced by our customers and in support of the EHCR initiative, BD and Company standardized all bar coding, packaging and order numbers.
We adopted the globally accepted bar code standard of UCC/EAN (uniform Code Council/EAN International) and implemented Universal Product Number code for all packaging levels. This standardization required changing catalog numbers to conform to a 6 digit format.
