Intended Use:

BBL™ DrySlide™ Indole is used for determining the indole reaction of bacteria.



Product Summary:

The indole test is a qualitative procedure for determining the ability of bacteria to produce indole by reductive deamination of tryptophan.1 Vracko and Sherris2 showed that the indole test can be performed using filter paper moistened with p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde (DMABA), an effective indicator of indole production.3-5



User Quality Control:

Identity Specifications – Each pouch contains 3 slide mounts and 1 desiccant container. Each slide mount has 4 buff-yellow reaction areas.

Performance Response – Perform the spot indole test following the above procedure with the test organisms listed below.

Reagents:

BBL DrySlide Indole is a disposable slide with four filter paper reaction areas containing 5% p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde (DMABA).

Handle BBL DrySlide Indole only by the slide mount; do not touch the reaction area.
