Flagella Stain Droppers are used for demonstrating bacterial flagella and their arrangement on the cell.

Product Summary: «

Due to their narrow diameter, bacterial flagella cannot be seen with the light microscope without the use of special stains. The presence of bacterial flagella, flagellum length, shape, curvature, number per cell and arrangement on the cell are useful in the identification of motile bacteria. The Flagella Stain is based on the tannic acid-crystal violet formula first described by Ryu1 and later by Kodaka, Armfield, Lombard and Dowell.2

The presence of flagella is especially useful in the identification of nonfermentative, gram-negative bacilli3-5 and anaerobic bacteria.2
