The BD Macro-Vue™ RPR Card Tests (Qualitative and Quantitative) are for the serologic detection of syphilis. The RPR Card Antigen Suspension is a component of the test.

RPR Card Antigen Suspension is a reagent component part used in performing the BD Macro-Vue RPR (Rapid Plasma Reagin) 18 mm Circle Test which is a nontreponemal testing procedure for the serologic detection of syphilis and is described in A Manual of Tests for Syphilis.¹ The test techniques described in this manual are the most widely used in the United States and have been thoroughly evaluated and standardized.

This package is a reagent component part of the BD Macro-Vue™ RPR Card Test Kits. Refer to the direction sheet included in all kits.

The ingredients* of the RPR Card Antigen Suspension are¹ 0.003% cardiolipin, 0.020 - 0.022% lecithin, 0.09% cholesterol, 0.0125 M EDTA, 0.01 M Na₂HPO₄, 0.01 M KH₂PO₄, 0.2% sodium azide (preservative), 0.02% charcoal (specially prepared, Becton Dickinson), 10% choline chloride, w/v, and deionized/distilled water.

For in vitro Diagnostic Use.

RPR Card Antigen Suspension is recommended only for use in the BD Macro-Vue RPR Card Test procedures. Prior to using the antigen, it is essential that the direction sheet accompanying each BD Macro-Vue RPR Card Test Kit be reviewed.

Warning: RPR Card Antigen Suspension contains sodium azide, which is harmful if swallowed. Contact with acids liberates very toxic gas. After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water. Sodium azide may react with lead and copper plumbing to form highly explosive metal azides. On disposal, flush with a large volume of water to prevent azide build-up.
