Difco™ EY Tellurite Enrichment is a tellurite egg yolk emulsion prepared for use with Difco™ Baird Parker Agar Base in the detection and enumeration of coagulase-positive staphylococci.
Fifty milliliters of Difco EY Tellurite Enrichment which has been warmed to 45 – 50°C is aseptically added to 950 mL of prepared and autoclaved Difco Baird Parker Agar Base, which has been cooled to 45 – 50°C.
Caution: EY Tellurite Enrichment, because of its nature, cannot be sterilized by usual procedures. The treatment given this product cannot guarantee the destruction of heat resistant spores of bacteria or yeasts. This product has passed our Quality Control tests. However, it is recommended that the usual sterility test be performed on the completed medium before it is used.
