Intended Use:

Difco™ Mycoplasma Supplement is an enrichment to media for the isolation and cultivation of Mycoplasma spp.; e.g., PPLO media, Heart Infusion Agar and Heart Infusion Broth.



Product Summary:

Although some species of Mycoplasma are normal human respiratory tract flora, M. pneumoniae is a major cause of respiratory disease (primary atypical pneumonia, sometimes called "walking pneumonia").1 M. hominis, M. genitalium and Ureaplasma urealyticum are important colonizers (and possible pathogens) of the human genital tract.1

Mycoplasma Supplement is a sterile desiccated enrichment for use in PPLO media as described by Hayflick.2 The supplement is prepared according to the formulations of Chanock, Hayflick and Barile3 and Hayflick.4



User Quality Control:

Add Difco Mycoplasma Supplement to an appropriate dehydrated medium base prepared according to label directions. Test samples of the finished product for performance using stable, typical control cultures.
