The BD ProbeTec™ Urine Preservative Transport Kit with NAP Guard™ technology is designed to preserve and transport Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae in male and female urine specimens from symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals prior to processing for analysis with the BD ProbeTec ET C. trachomatis (CT) and N. gonorrhoeae (GC) Amplified DNA Assays.

Nucleic acid amplification methods offer advantages over non-amplified methods including increased sensitivity and testing from a variety of sample types. Testing for C. trachomatis and N. gonorrhoeae in screening programs and diagnostic situations is not always possible immediately after specimen collection. The BD ProbeTec Urine Preservative Transport (UPT) with NAP Guard technology allows for an extended range of time and temperature conditions for specimen storage and transport.

Materials Provided: Each BD ProbeTec Urine Preservative Transport Kit contains 100 UPT tubes and 100 transfer pipettes. Each UPT contains 50 μL of NAP Guard (≥742.5 mM K₂EDTA).

Materials Required But Not Provided: Sterile, plastic, preservative-free, urine collection cups and gloves.

Storage Instructions: Store kit at 2 – 33°C. Do not use past the expiration date.

For in vitro Diagnostic Use.

1. Pathogenic microorganisms, including hepatitis viruses and Human Immunodeficiency Virus, may be present in clinical specimens. "Standard Precautions"^1-4 and institutional guidelines should be followed in handling all items contaminated with blood and other body fluids.

2. The Urine Preservative Transport Kit is for use with male and female urine specimens to be tested using only the BD ProbeTec ET C. trachomatis (CT) and N. gonorrhoeae (GC) Amplified DNA Assays. Do not use the UPT kit with other amplified DNA assays.

3. Optimal performance of the BD ProbeTec ET C. trachomatis (CT) and N. gonorrhoeae (GC) Amplified DNA Assays requires proper specimen collection, handling and transport.

4. NAP Guard may be irritating to the eyes, skin and respiratory system. In case of contact with eyes, rinse opened eye immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice if symptoms persist. After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of soap and water. If inhaled, seek medical attention in case of problems.
