BD Specimen Collection and Transport products are used for the collection and transport of aerobic and anaerobic bacterial specimens to the laboratory for recovery of microorganisms. BD CultureSwab™ MaxV is the latest innovation in this family of products, featuring protein embedded into the swab, providing enhanced recovery of microorganisms over other bacterial transport systems.

BD CultureSwab™ and BD CultureSwab™ MaxV Specimen Collection and Transport Systems provide enhanced recovery of microorganisms from patient specimens. A wide range of collection devices are offered for maintenance of aerobic and/or facultative anaerobic microorganisms during transport. BBL™ CultureSwab™ EZ and CultureSwab™ EZ II devices are media-free and are preferred when sampling sensitive skin or mucous membrane wounds.

BD ESwab Collection and Transport System is intended for the collection and transport of clinical specimens containing aerobes, anaerobes and fastidious bacteria from the collection site to the testing laboratory. In the laboratory, ESwab specimens are processed using standard clinical laboratory operating procedures for bacterial culture.

BBL™ Port-A-Cul™ Tubes, Vials and Jars contain a unique pre-reduced transport medium with reducing agents, and are intended for use in maintaining viability of both aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms during transport from the patient to the laboratory. These devices are ideal for tissue specimens.

The BBL™ Vacutainer™ Anaerobic Specimen Collector is the only media-free device for anaerobic specimen collection available. The media-free nature of this product helps to minimize sample dilution which may occur in media-based products and eliminates the potential for non-viable organisms that can be seen in some transport media.
