BD BACTEC™ Plus PRIME Aerobic Medium*

It's Red because of the Third Resin

The first BD media containing resins were introduced into the blood culture sciences more than 23 years ago. The use of resins was revolutionary in sepsis management and microbe recovery by effectively neutralizing antibiotics1, 2, 3. BD is proud to continue as an industry leader and innovator by introducing its latest triplex resin blend with BD BACTEC™ Plus PRIME Aerobic medium.

This next generation of blood culture medium contains three resins instead of two. The third, new resin has a unique dark red hue that can easily be seen throughout the BD BACTEC blood culture bottles. BD BACTEC Plus PRIME Aerobic medium offers a triplex of cationic adsorption and hydrophobic attraction resins.

The BD BACTEC™ Plus PRIME Aerobic medium builds on the demonstrated effectiveness of BD BACTEC Plus resin media, which have been shown to neutralize a wide variety of antimicrobials, thereby improving recovery and shortening time to detection compared to non-resin media.1, 2, 3

The BD BACTEC Blood Culture System provides exceptional performance and reliability while improving workflow efficiencies from specimen collection to actionable results.

With BD BACTEC Plus PRIME Aerobic medium and the BD BACTEC FX instrument, BD demonstrates its dedication and leadership in continuing to bring innovative and quality diagnostic products and systems to the diagnostic sciences.

Not two, but three resins.
