Splittable Introducer Sheath

Features:

The color-coded splittable introducer sheath is designed to split away easily from the PICC or midline catheter.

Benefits:

• Easily splits for removal from the inserted catheter.
• Color-coding of the introducer sheath wings ensures the introducer is the correct size for the catheter being placed.

Shielding Technology

Features:

The unique, patented activation mechanism of the BD Introsyte-N Autoguard shielded introducer is a mechanical design in which the button holds the needle assembly in the forward position until the user activates the device. Pressing the button releases the spring and allows the needle and flash chamber to retract quickly into the safety barrel.

Benefits:

• Allows user to determine when to activate the safety mechanism. Clinician maintains control of the process which is especially important with the clinicians placing catheters in neonatal infants.
• Activation of the needle shielding mechanism can be confirmed by sight.
• Offers a high degree of safety in two areas: 1) needlestick injury and 2) blood exposure.

BD Instaflash Needle Technology

Features:

The BD notched needle technology incorporates the many years of experience BD has as the worldwide leader in medical needle technology. The unique notched needle provides immediate visualization of blood return along the catheter shaft. Managing the needle development process from the purchase of the unformed stainless steel through to the final testing gives BD unmatched control over the quality of our needles.

Catheter Tip

Features:

The low-profile symmetrical tip allows a minimum of resistance as the tissue transitions from the needle bevel onto the introducer sheath.

Superior Insertion Quality

• The current insertion characteristics in the industry for PICC introducers are very poor in comparison to that of peripheral IV catheters. BD, as the company that set the IV catheter insertion characteristics standard more than 15 years ago, is working to change this. Through leverage of proprietary technologies, BD has produced the BD Introsyte-N Autoguard Precision Introducer with insertion characteristics that have been shown to be comparable to that of a BD Insyte IV catheter and substantially better than the market leading introducer.
