Benefits |
| The foundation of the BD Posiflow IV Access System
is its positive fluid displacement feature |
Engineered to automatically reverse the blood reflux
associated with conventional valves |
| Provides a straight two-way fluid path for any administered
fluid or blood draw |
This feature reduces the chance that microbial contamination
or hemolysis will occur |
| Flat swabbable surface |
With correct swabbing technique, reduces the chance
that microbial agents will enter the fluid path |
| Latex free |
Reduces exposure to latex to both patient and healthcare
worker |
| Ergonomically designed |
Allows for easier, more comfortable attachment and
disconnection |
| Lipid and Taxol compatible |
Allows the use of lipids and chemotherapeutic agents |
| Low priming volume/dead space |
Reduces the amount of critical drugs and fluids that
remain in the device |
|
BD Posiflow IV Access System components are made of the following materials:
Blue body, white luer polycarbonate
Leaf spring Ultem (polytherimide)
Reseal & spring silicone elastomer |
All materials are currently used in other medical devices
and have also been thoroughly tested for biocompatibility |
| BD Posiflow IV Access System site reseals itself passively
after access is disconnected. |
No additional steps are required after disconnection |
| Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) compatible |
Eliminates potential for false MRI readings due to
the BD Posiflow IV Access System |
| Technical data supports a maximum of 100 actuations
(Study available as a PDF) |
Supports intermittent infusion and flushing protocols
between site changes |
| Can be accessed by conventional hypodermic needles
in emergency cases |
Allows for "peace of mind" in code situations |
