BD Vialon Biomaterial
The material difference in vascular access
BD
Vialon biomaterial has been clinically proven to offer indwelling superiority and
reduced catheter related complications. The smoother surface of the BD Vialon biomaterial
dramatically reduces catheter drag upon insertion and formation of catheter-related
thrombosis during indwelling periods.
Once inside the
vein, the BD Vialon catheter softens, which reduces irritation to the intima (the
inner lining) of the vein. This superior softening capability allows the catheter
to conform to the natural lie of the vessel, resulting in less pressure to the vessel
walls, and reducing the risk of vessel wall penetration.
The thinwall design of the BD
Vialon biomaterial provides higher flow rates than FEP catheters without compromising
catheter strength.
