Why did you choose the name BD PosiFlush Syringes? |
 |
| |
|
| A: |
The name BD PosiFlush was chosen because the unique syringe design complements the practice of positive pressure flushing. |

Are BD PosiFlush Syringes latex free and preservative free? |
| |
|
|
| A: |
Yes. BD PosiFlush Syringes are both Latex Free and Preservative Free. |

Can I drop BD PosiFlush Syringes onto a sterile field?
|
| |
|
| A: |
No. Although BD PosiFlush Syringes are autoclaved to sterilize the solution and fluid path, the syringe is not in a sterile package. We recognize there is a clinical need for a pre-filled saline syringe that can be aseptically presented to a sterile field and are planning to address that need in the future. |

Are BD PosiFlush Syringes available in a variety of sizes? |
| |
|
| A: |
Yes. BD PosiFlush Syringes are available in four different fill volumes - 2mL, 3mL, 5mL and 10mL - all filled with normal saline. In addition to this broad product array that satisfies most clinical needs, BD PosiFlush Syringes offer other unique benefits. For example, each of the four sizes has the same barrel diameter as a traditional 10mL BD syringe. This standard 10mL diameter ensures that even the smaller size BD PosiFlush Syringes (2mL, 3mL and 5mL) comply with PICC/CVC manufactures' recommendations for flushing with a 10mL diameter syringe. This standard 10mL barrel diameter across all sizes also provides an additional benefit to clinicians of consistent tactile feedback during flushing regardless of the syringe size used. |

Are BD PosiFlush Syringes also available filled with Heparin Lock Flush solution? |
| |
|
| A: |
Not at this time. In order to provide clinicians with the highest sterility assurance level BD autoclaves (sterilizes) PosiFlush Saline Syringes during the manufacturing process. Because the autoclave temperature will negatively impact the heparin lock flush solution, it cannot be sterilized by this method. BD's Pre- filled Heparin Lock Flush Syringes are manufactured using an aseptic filling process, similar to the process used by most pharmaceutical manufacturers.
Please note that we will soon modify the syringes used for Pre-filled Heparin Lock Flush to include the minimal reflux and improve labeling features that are part of the PosiFlush design. Contact your BD sales consultant for additional information. |
