On July 30, 2010, a new company known as Beaver-Visitec International, Inc. was launched. Beaver-Visitec International (BVI) was formed from the purchase of the Ophthalmic Systems business from BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company).

Beaver-Visitec International combines the 75-year heritage of Beaver™ microsurgical blades, Visitec™ cannulae and instruments with Merocel® fluid control products and Wet-Field® electrosurgery products. Our trusted brands have a long-standing tradition of quality and innovation serving all areas of ophthalmic surgery.
