BD Medical - Ophthalmic Systems announces the introduction of the new 9 mm Hersh LASIK Flap/Spatula Irrigator (catalog no. 585252). Designed in conjunction with Peter Hersh, MD, FACS, the LASIK Flap/Spatula Irrigation offers 3-in-one atraumatic lifting, irrigation, and repositioning of the corneal flap. The blunt tip allows atraumatic entering into the interface while simultaneously floating the flap up, and the flattened bend-to-tip allows more surface area contact between the cannula and flap for better interface. According to Dr. Hersh, "It is easily placed beneath the flap since its polished edges and flattened wing-like (or feathered) silhouette avoid damage to flap edges and stromal bed. Its curvature from bend to tip conforms to the corneal curvature to allow massaging of the flap into position to avoid striae."
