Why

Can
I drop BD PosiFlush Saline Syringes onto a sterile field? |
| |
|
| A: |
Only BD PosiFlush SF Saline Syringe (Reorder #306553) may be placed on a
sterile field. The BD PosiFlush SF Saline Syringe is specially manufactured and
terminally sterilized in its peel-apart pouch for aseptic presentation to a sterile field.
Although all other BD PosiFlush Saline Syringes are autoclaved to sterilize the
solution and fluid path, the syringe is not in a sterile package. Because the package
is not sterile, each package carries the statement, “Do Not Place Syringe on a Sterile
Field”. |

Are
BD PosiFlush Saline Syringes available in a variety of sizes? |
| |
|
| A: |
Yes.
BD PosiFlush Saline Syringes are available in four different fill volumes; 2mL,
3mL, 5mL and 10mL, all filled with normal saline. In addition to this broad product array that satisfies most clinical needs for saline flushes, BD PosiFlush Syringes offer other unique benefits. For example, each of the four sizes has the same barrel diameter as a traditional 10mL BD syringe. This standard 10mL diameter ensures that even the smaller size BD PosiFlush Syringes (2mL, 3mL and 5mL) comply with PICC/CVC manufactures’ recommendations for flushing with a 10mL diameter syringe. This standard 10mL barrel diameter across all sizes also provides an additional benefit to clinicians of consistent tactile feedback* during flushing regardless of the syringe size used. |

Are BD PosiFlush Syringes also available filled with Heparin Lock Flush solution? |
| |
|
| A: |
Yes. Although BD PosiFlush Heparin Lock Flush Syringes do not share the same “stubby design” that is unique to BD PosiFlush Saline Syringes, they are engineered to generate minimal syringe reflux* which, in turn, complements positive pressure flushing. BD PosiFlush Heparin Lock Flush Syringes are available in a variety of syringe diameters and fill volumes to complement your flushing protocols. |
