UNICEF and BD Work to Make Global Measles Deaths Drop by 78 percent
The Measles Initiative, which considers BD to be one of its key partners, announced a warning about the resurgence of measles and urged countries to continue vaccination campaigns to continue the decrease in deaths.

BD supported and supplied product donations to Heart to Heart’s volunteer trip to the Republic of Georgia. The donations helped in Heart to Heart’s mission to bring humanitarian aid to Georgia.

UNICEF and BD Acknowledge the New Initiative to Address Sexual Violence Against Girls Launched at Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting in New York
Gary Cohen (Board Director of the CDC Foundation and the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, and Executive VP of BD) and initiative partners are working together to expand surveillance of sexual violence against girls, develop packages of intervention and prepare and launch a major media campaign to promote awareness.

Project HOPE honored for Dominican Republic Aid
BD and Project HOPE were honored for their donations to aid the Dominican Republic after the country suffered devastating tropical storms in 2007. BD donated a significant amount of products in aid.
BD, NBA legend Dikembe Mutombo and UNICEF launched two Centers of Excellence: an Immune System Monitoring Laboratory and an Occupational Safety Centre for Health Workers. The safety center will train more than 200 clinicians while the new laboratory will improve monitoring and treatment of patients living with HIV/AIDS.
BD and Direct Relief created a program to help people in the U.S. with insulin-dependent diabetes who have been affected by the current economic situation. BD pledged to donate 5 million syringes to more than 1,000 community health center and free clinic partners nationwide.

BD/PEPFAR Lab-strengthening Initiative Marks Progress in Fight against HIV/AIDS and TB in sub-Saharan Africa
BD and PEPFAR collaborated to make significant progress in improving lab conditions and enhancing the skills of lab personnel in the battle against HIV/AIDS and TB in sub-Saharan Africa. This collaboration is valued at up to $18 million.

AmeriCares and BD Worked Together to Stop the Spread of Cholera in Zimbabwe

BD and PEPFAR collaborated together to create a five-year relationship to commit to improving overall laboratory systems and services in Tanzania, as well as other African countries, that are severely affected by HIV/AIDS and TB.

AmeriCares Provides Hope for Diabetes Care in Cambodia

BD and Direct Relief International Launch Volunteer Service Program to Improve Healthcare in Ghana
BD and Direct Relief launched their volunteer service trip in Ghana to help build local healthcare capacity in the region. BD sent 12 volunteers for three weeks to strengthen healthcare in two areas of Ghana.
