  • More user-friendly software with point-and-click capability
  • Incorporates questions now required in California and other states that have made recent revisions to their state Bloodborne Pathogen Standards.
  • It's true database software, using Microsoft Access® as the heart of the program. This provides much greater power for analyzing data.
  • Custom Query feature allows for more in-depth analysis than Data Analysis in EPI Info.
  • Ability to generate Single Incident Reports.
  • Ability to run summary reports on Postexposure Incidents.
  • Graphing software offers more flexibility in depicting data.

What type of hardware is needed to run EPINet™ for Microsoft® Access?

  • IBM compatible Personal Computer with the ability to run Windows 95 or better.
  • 16MB RAM
  • Note: for those running large databases (1,000+ records), we strongly suggest a minimum of 64MB RAM.

What's included in the EPINet™ Microsoft® Access if I order it?

Does implementing EPINet™; for Microsoft® Access automatically make my institution part of an EPINet network?

  • NO. Although the consistency of reporting for those using the EPINet™ for Microsoft® Access program does allow data sharing and comparing (apples to apples), installing the program does not automatically put you "on line". The EPINet™ for Microsoft® Access is a stand-alone computer program.
  • Many groups do start EPINet networks by working through regional APIC chapters, GPOs, or integrated networks, which need to be organized at the hospital level. This approach helps institutions maintain privacy and control over data.

How does EPINet™ for Microsoft® Access enable healthcare providers to meet OSHA requirements?

  • OSHA's Prevention of Occupational Exposures to Bloodborne Pathogens mandates safe handling practices for sharp medical devices, and requires record keeping for adverse blood and body fluid contacts.
  • New state regulations enacted in California, and introduced in many other states, include more specific record keeping requirements, that the EPINet™ for Windows® questionnaires and programs meet.

If I am a previous EPINet™; user, can I import my existing data into the EPINet™ for Microsoft® Access program?

Yes. EPINet™ for Microsoft® Access is designed to import data from the DOS and Windows version of EPINet™.
