The purpose of inoculating and streaking bacteriology specimens is to generate single discreet colonies the next day. The BD Kiestra™ InoqulA™ specimen processor uses a patent-pending magnetic rolling bead technology to streak media plates using customizable patterns.

The BD Kiestra™ InoqulA™ is the new standard for inoculation. This high throughput solution is able to process both liquid and non-liquid samples using the unique Rolling Bead, which will ensure single colonies.

Rolling Bead

  • This unique and innovative inoculation technique has been demonstrated to generate up to 3 to 5 times more single colonies compared to manual streaking methods.
  • The rolling bead covers a larger surface of agar than any other manual or automated solution. This has proven to be the superior way of spreading a sample.

Process any type of specimen or container style*

  • Process swabs, urines and all other non-fluid samples. This helps maximize cost savings.
