Creating a Perfect Order

BD supports the use of the GS1 System of data standards. BD is an active member in GS1 Healthcare and utilizes Global Location Numbers, (GLN) Global Trade Item Numbers (GTIN), Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC) and other GS1 data standards.

The GS1 System is an integrated system of global standards that provides for accurate identification and communication of information regarding products, assets, services and locations.

BD has invested in and utilizes GS1 data standards to enable the healthcare supply chain to improve operational efficiencies and remove errors and waste. In addition to enhancing the supply chain, GS1 data standards can be utilized by healthcare providers for tracking product usage and integration with clinical processes.

The following case study is an example of how BD has collaborated with a leading healthcare provider to implement GS1 data standards as part of a Perfect Order collaboration.
