Redesigned with users in mind, the new BD Ultra-Fine™ PRO 4mm Pen Needle makes injections easier from start to finish for people who inject their diabetes medication.1-3#†  This latest BD pen needle includes a wide outer cover, moulded ridges and additional grips to support easy attachment and removal of the pen needle from a medication pen device, which is important to people with hand tremors or limited strength who find it difficult to manage their injections.1#

The BD Ultra-Fine ™PRO 4mm Pen Needle also includes 5-Bevel Comfort, a five-edged needle tip which ensures significantly less thumb force is required to gently ease the needle into the skin for a smoother, gentler injection.2†  The new pen needle also incorporates EasyFlow™ technology, an extra thin wall cannula which increases the flow rate of diabetes medication resulting in faster injections.3†

BD Ultra-Fine™ PRO also features a short 4mm needle length, which is recommended to help people manage their diabetes more easily.4

“The 4mm needle length is key to ensuring diabetes medication is delivered to the layer just below the skin and not injected into muscle.  Accidently injecting medication into muscle can affect how it’s absorbed, making the medication less effective which can result in hypoglycaemia or variable blood sugar levels4,” says Nurse Practitioner and Credentialled Diabetes Educator, Michelle Robins.

“Injecting into muscle can also be painful and this can be eased by using a 4mm pen needle4,” Ms Robins added.

The new BD Ultra-Fine™ PRO 4mm Pen Needle is compatible with leading brands of diabetes medication pen devices* and can be obtained through the National Diabetes Service Scheme (NDSS)^.  The new BD Ultra-Fine™ PRO 4mm Pen Needle will be available in leading pharmacies from May 2019.
