BD hosts the Global Health Annual Summit 2019 in The Hague, Netherlands
Vice President of BD Global Health

This week, the BD Global Health team along with thought leaders, key partners from around the world and BD business leaders have gathered in The Hague, Netherlands for the Global Health Annual Summit 2019. The summit is a platform for attendees to engage in valuable dialogue about the current priorities and challenges in healthcare delivery in the developing and developed world, as well as to identify opportunities through which BD and its partners can make a greater impact.

The multi-day summit attracts experts from some of the world’s top non-profit organizations, international agencies and governments who will participate in panel discussions and presentations with the goal of helping BD Global Health plan its response and investments for the coming year. We look forward to hearing from representatives of the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Africa CDC, Stop TB Partnership, Indian Council of Medical Research, Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics, Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), World Health Organization, and more.

This year’s summit will cover topics such as new tools and partnerships being launched by BD to tackle the issues of growing antimicrobial resistance; new BD partnerships addressing cancer and family planning; healthcare worker safety; the role of essential diagnostics list in improving access to diagnosis for infectious diseases; strengthening lab systems in resource limited settings; and the role women play in global health.

Since 2004, BD’s Global Health team has addressed critical health priorities by aligning BD’s capabilities with major public health needs, such as infection prevention and control, management of HIV and TB, maternal and newborn health, antimicrobial resistance, and healthcare worker and patient safety.  BD Global Health also serves as an advocate by bringing the perspective of the private sector to leading donors, international agencies and governments to better resource healthcare systems.
