BD named among 100 Best Corporate Citizens

BD was named today to Corporate Responsibility Magazine’s top 100 Best Corporate Citizens in 2019. The publication, which has been ranking U.S. public companies since 1999 for their outstanding environmental, social and governance transparency and performance, has recognized BD for the last four years.

Over the last several years, the BD sustainability strategy has focused on four key strategic areas, under which we set specific 2020 Sustainability Goals:

  • Innovation – Focusing on technology, processes, systems and partnerships, BD works to find new ways to impact the quality of care for customers and health care systems. More specifically, we have identified ways to redefine medication management technologies, as well as tools needed to support disease diagnosis and treatment. We are focused on advancing capabilities for how clinicians and patients manage disease across the care continuum, and how we can support researchers transition their ideas into clinical practice.
  • Access – Providing health care access to vulnerable populations is critical to the future of medical technology. BD partners with leading organizations and government agencies to do just that. Additionally, we place a strong focus on finding ways to change the trajectory of public health challenges like diabetes, cancer and antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
  • Efficiency – We are continually working to establish partnerships that address some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges, such as climate change and natural resource scarcity. In FY2017, 98% of BD’s electric power used by operations in the U.S. – and 66% of global electric power consumption – was obtained from renewable resources.
  • Empowerment – With more than 65,000 associates around the world, BD values an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the communities, customers and patients that we serve. BD recently launched a Global Inclusion Council compromised of highly influential, next generation leaders to facilitate action, and drive change from within and across the company. Additionally, the company sponsors Associate Resource Groups (ARGs) that help us advance our cultural priorities of becoming more agile, candid and transparent; cultivating innovation; and uniting, engaging and developing talent. ARGs also help create better career growth for associates by providing peer mentoring, coaching, leadership and networking.
