BD Statement on Appointment of Dr. John Nkengasong as First Director of Africa Centers for Disease Control

FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. - BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) today issued the following statement to congratulate Dr. John Nkengasong on his appointment as the first director of the newly established Africa Centers for Disease Control (Africa CDC).

Renuka Gadde, vice president of Global Health for BD and board member for the African Society of Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) said:

"The decision by the African Union to establish the Africa CDC will immensely benefit the continent by further enabling country-led programs to save lives and improve health and wellbeing, and John Nkengasong is the ideal person to lead this new agency.

He has also been the guiding force for the ASLM, which established a strong foundation for the advancement of laboratory medicine in sub-Saharan Africa."
