“This collaboration brings the best of two organizations together, with a strong focus on improving patient care,” said Jamie Gallagher, country leader for BD - Canada’s Preanalytical Systems (PAS) business. “We are committed to providing ongoing education that focuses on quality outcomes and providing access to content from across Canada. We look forward to working alongside CSMLS to highlight the important work their members and our customers do and how it impacts the lives of patients every day.”

BD and CSMLS also announced the BD-sponsored CSMLS Awards (which replaces the previous Clinical Laboratory Management Association Awards). The BD Young Leaders Scholarship will provide funding for continuing education and professional development for a medical laboratory professional who is new to the field, and demonstrates leadership ability and commitment to continuous learning and development. The BD Quality Assurance Project Reward will provide a grant to an accredited clinical laboratory that can demonstrate positive results for a quality assurance or research project on the theme of “Improving the patient experience through organizational collaboration.” Both awards will be introduced in 2018 with details available on the CSMLS website: https://csmls.org/

“CSMLS is enthusiastic to be working in collaboration with BD,” said Michael Grant, director of marketing & communication for CSMLS. “Through this relationship, we hope to leverage the expertise and networks of both teams to provide relevant and important educational content to the laboratory community. We hope to explore the use of various digital formats which will allow us to provide cost-effective learning solutions that meet the needs of laboratory professionals’ busy lives. Together, BD and CSMLS will be seen as an innovative, go-to resource for content and that idea really excites us.”
