Options to help support INS recommendations

With an ANTT insertion method, different kit configurations and added length* PowerGlide™ Pro and PowerGlide™ ST Midline Catheters provide options to achieve best practice and industry guidelines for reducing the risk of catheter failure and contamination.

These midline catheters are designed to support INS recommendations.

  • At least 2/3s of the peripheral catheter should reside within the vessel to reduce the risk of failure.1
  • Use a sterile single-use gel packet and a sterile sheath over the probe and disinfect before and after each use to reduce the risk for ultrasound probe contamination and subsequently risk for infection.1

Venipuncture for blood draws is one of the most performed procedures in hospitals, affecting nearly every inpatient daily.2 Choosing the right midline catheter to successfully provide treatment and blood sampling has been shown to lower the burden of blood draws for both hospitals and patients.3

This is why BD offers the PowerGlide Pro™ Midline Catheter—to help you and your team simplify insertions similar to peripheral IV catheters, with flexible placement in the lower or upper arm and catheter dwell time up to 29 days.

The technology provides the path, intersection point and real-time depth of the needle throughout the insertion procedure, helping you to place catheters confidently and efficiently.**

    PowerGlide Pro™ Midline Catheters allow for the injection of contrast media for CT scans at maximum flow rates:

    • 18 G: 7 mL/sec
    • 20 G: 5 mL/sec
    • 22 G: 2 mL/sec

    Caution: When using room temperature (20°C) contrast with a 26.6 cP viscosity, maximum flow rate may not be achieved.
