Why must the pink safety shield on the BD Vacutainer® Eclipse™ Signal™ Blood Collection Needle be gently rotated back toward the holder?
A.
The pink shield is gently rotated back so it doesn't obstruct your view during venipuncture and collection. The pink shield is attached to the needle to provide protection from accidental needlesticks. The shield is directly in-line with the bevel of the needle and all collections are performed with the bevel in the "UP" position.

What material is used to manufacturer needles for BD Vacutainer® products?

The needles of the BD Vacutainer® Push Button Blood Collection Set, BD Vacutainer® Safety-Lok™ Blood Collection Sets, BD Vacutainer® Eclipse™ Signal™ and BD Vacutainer® Eclipse™ Blood Collection Needle are all made of stainless steel (grade 304).

Will there be any change in my collection technique when using
BD Vacutainer® Eclipse™ Signal™ blood collection needles?

No. The blood collection needle has been designed to improve the collection experience with a highly visible flash chamber to aid first-stick success and improve the blood collection times with Extra-thin wall cannula. The familiar BD Eclipse™ shield is incorporated to protect to healthcare professionals from accidental needlestick injuries.

What configurations are available for the BD Vacutainer® Eclipse™ Signal™ Blood Collection Needles?
A.
The BD Vacutainer® Eclipse™ Signal™ Blood Collection Needles are available in 21 and 22 gauge sizes with Extra-thin wall cannula – no other BD blood collection needle offers this. The blood collection needle is designed completely with an integrated holder but it is also available without the integrated holder. BD recommends using a One Use Holder when using a blood collection needle without the holder pre-attached.
