CUE™ Needle Tracking Technology with Magnetic Visualization Software provides the path, intersection point, and real-time depth of the needle throughout the insertion procedure, enables you to place catheters confidently and efficiently. CUE™ Needle Tracking Technology is compatible with PowerGlide Pro™ Midline Catheter, and available on a variety of BD Ultrasound Systems (the Site~Rite™ 8 Ultrasound System, Site~Rite™ 9 Ultrasound System and Site~Rite Prevue™ II Ultrasound System).

Using 10-point Visual Analog Scales, patients rated their satisfaction and distress with venipuncture and Short Peripheral Catheters (SPC). Patients rated higher satisfaction and lower distress for blood drawn through a catheter when compared to venipuncture.4

Hemolysis is the most commonly occurring preanalytical error, accounting for 26% of unnecessary diagnosis or treatment. Hemolyzed blood samples can lead to the need for re-draws, delays in diagnosis and treatment, incorrect clinical decision-making and increased length of stay. The healthcare costs of hemolysis can add up: each redraw costs approximately $55, and a preanalytical error is estimated to cost $208 on average.1 The impact of these costs can add up to approx. $1.2M per year for a 650-bed healthcare facility.1
The American Society for Clinical Pathology benchmark for hemolysis rate is 2% or less.6 A study published in JAVA shows how utilizing midline catheters for blood draws can significantly reduce the rates of hemolysis.2
Using additional needles or sharps for redraws creates added risk of needlestick injuries.
