Description


Short peripheral catheter (SPC) insertion is a common invasive procedure in hospitalized patients. Variations in this fundamental nursing skill exists among nurses. This project focused on creating a vascular access management program to improve SPC practice and associated outcomes. This presentation will cover complications with SPC, areas to focus on when implementing a collaborative vascular access management team, change management and understanding the results of first-insertion success, dwell times and economic impact of short peripheral catheters.
