Overview

BD’s Total Intravenous Anaesthesia (TIVA) Administration Sets are designed to support precision, safety and workflow efficiency in anaesthesia delivery across a range of clinical settings.¹

Available in both detachable² and non-detachable³ configurations, these sets offer tailored solutions for controlled drug infusion, especially in fast-paced operating environments and pediatric care.

Features and Benefits

Size

The tubing size impacts priming volume and fluid flow:

  • Microbore (<2 mm) is recommended for low volume infusions; usually preferred in Paediatrics.¹,²
  • Macrobore (>2 mm) can deliver large volume infusions in a short time,³ usually preferred in the Emergency Department and adult care areas.

Material

To prevent medication interactions and mitigate risks of exposure to DEHP (diethylhexyl phthalate)*, we offer polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and non-PVC tubing options, including:

  • PVC (non-DEHP)
  • PU (polyurethane)
  • PE (polyethylene)
  • Low sorbing PE lined (PE/PVC)
  • TPE (thermoplastic elastomers)

Length

Short Extension sets are designed to provide a closed extension from the Peripheral Intravenous Catheter (PIVC) hub to:

  • Help minimize catheter movement during access, reducing the risk of complications.²,
  • Offer added length, access ports, or configuration flexibility to tailor infusions to individual patient needs.¹,²

Length

Long Extension sets are designed to:

  • Connect multiple syringe pumps delivering different medications to a single patient, allowing pumps to be positioned away from the bedside.
  • Extend the reach and functionality of primary administration sets by adding length and additional access points.¹
  • Ideal for scenarios such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures or isolation protocols—enabling continuous medication delivery while keeping clinicians and equipment outside the patient room.
