Statement on US FDA Safety Communication

On March 19, 2024, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a safety communication concerning the sale and distribution of unauthorized plastic syringes made in China that have not been approved or cleared by the FDA for sale and distribution in the U.S.

This safety notice does not apply to any BD syringes. The hypodermic syringes BD distributes to the Canadian health care system are not manufactured in China.

Our top priority is to uphold the distribution and manufacturing of high-quality health care products, ensuring a resilient supply chain. In response, BD in the U.S. announced its plans to ramp up domestic production of syringes to address the potentially increased demand. We are working with our partners to support our customers in Canada and the broader system.
