The BD® hazardous drug safety portfolio offers the Texium™ System. It utilises mechanical valve technology to achieve an airtight, leak-free, and drip-free closed system drug transfer when paired with a BD® SmartSite™ Needle-free Connector.
The Texium™ System offers bonded syringes which, when used with a SmartSite™ Needle-free Connector, are designed to promote safe handling of non-hazardous and hazardous drugs during preparation, administration and/or waste handling. These features offer a workflow advantage, particularly when seamlessly integrated with the BD® Alaris™ Pump Infusion Set and SmartSite™ Needle-Free Secondary Set.
With a range of access devices, the Texium™ System provides healthcare professionals with a comprehensive solution to their needs, which include: SmartSite™ vented Vial Access Devices and SmartSite™ Bag Access Devices.
Texium™ Closed Male Luer

The Texium™ Closed Male Luer (CML) is a sterile, single-use closed system drug transfer device (CSTD) intended for the reconstitution, transfer and administration of hazardous and non-hazardous drugs when paired with the SmartSite™ Needle-Free Connector.

The SmartSite™ needle-free valve bag access port lets you access IV bags to add or remove fluid without the need of opening the lines. - Bag access safety
Bag access devices come integrated with Alaris™ Pump Infusion Sets and SmartSite™ Needle-Free Secondary Sets for safe and direct bag access. - Spike configurability
A universal spike adapter is available that lets you use any ISO-compliant spike.

The Texium™ Needle-Free Syringe is a sterile, single-use closed system drug transfer device (CSTD) incorporating a bonded Texium™ Closed Male Luer and Syringe, intended for preparation and administration of hazardous and non-hazardous drugs when paired with the SmartSite™ Needle-Free Connector.

Gain safe access to drug vials
Our SmartSite™ Vented Vial Access Device works with our Texium™ Closed Male Luer to form a closed
system that lets you safely access drug vials. The SmartSite™ needle-free valve allows for multiple needlefree accesses to medication vials.
- Minimised contamination
The 0.2 micron hydrophobic air-venting filter neutralises vial pressure, minimising aerosols and surface contamination. - Easy extraction
The hydrophobic filter enables you to more easily extract the drug from the vial. - Maximised volume
The dual pathway spike efficiently transfers fluids to maximise extractable volume.
